The impact of wind barrier of natural landform and wind barrier of artificial Hippophae rhamnoides on the plants restoration in flat of dumping site of opencast coal mine in the semi arid was investigated through the observations on the plants in the different sectors of dumping site, field experiment and laboratory analysis. The Huolinhe opencast coal mine was taken as an example in this research. The results showed that wind barrier of natural landform and wind barrier of artificial Hippophae rhamnoides not only play a role of wind proofing, but also improve physical and chemical characters of the soil, accelerate the growth of other plants, reduce water erosion, speed up the processes of plant restoration and ecological rehabilitation in the dumping site.
